MAKING THE BEST OUT OF A BAD SITUATION

We planned on going to Rockhall, MD to watch the pre 4th of July fireworks but decided to ditch the idea fearing the chance that it might get cancelled due to bad weather. So we thought we could watch it across the water on a “vantage” point at our community beach. Just in case it rained, we’ll be close to home and wouldn’t be stuck in traffic. We got there about an hour-and-a-half early so I took a few shots while we waited. It drizzled a bit while the sun set out of view… here’s one of my favorites:

The weather held pretty nicely and around 9pm the fireworks started. It was spectacular… for the people at Rockhall, but for us, it was a little bit disappointing.

So to make the best of a bad situtation, I decided to point my camera elsewhere… back to the same pier I shot earlier with the kayaker. You’ll be surprised with the colors the camera can capture at a 30 second exposure in what your eyes and brain might perceive as dark of night.

And my daughter asked me to draw a heart with my cellphone.
