Covering The Wudang Kung Fu Seminar At Little Creek Kung Fu

About two weekends ago (10/27/13) I had the opportunity to cover the last day of the Wudang kung fu seminar by Zhong Xuechao, also known as Master Bing.

I arrived in the middle of their stretching session which was followed by a review of what the students have learned.

After the review, everyone went outside to practice among themselves.

The coolest part of the day was when I was given the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with Master Bing… it was difficult and easy at the same time.

I only say It’s difficult because I had no idea which specific poses I was going to ask for. I am not familiar with the kung fu style. If I asked him to do moves based on the stuff I’ve only seen in old kung fu movies where the actors announce the moves they were doing while fighting, I  would sound ridiculous.

On the other hand, It’s easy because it’s like having a professional model in front of the camera. He is a master of the martial art style.

Master bing was awesome to work with. I simply asked him questions like, “can you “give me some kicking moves? jumps? etc… and he would do it. We understood each other perfectly in that regard and this resulted in awesome images.

I can only hope that I did him justice through these images and that he would be proud to show his colleagues and students.

Thanks to Bill, Angie and Alex Bechtold of Little Creek Kung Fu, the students and especially Master Bing for the wonderful shooting opportunity. I look forward to working with all of you again.
