“Being Prepared” and “Feeling Secure”… that was the theme for a June image critique and photo contest at a photography meetup group that I am in. I like the theme so I decided to join.
I was lucky enough to get willing models on short notice. On shoot day, my plan was to to create an image of mother and daughter embracing but I’m not one to waste a great opportunity when the entire family was home. So another interpretation of the theme I came up with was a scene of a father teaching his son how to tie a tie.
After getting my mother and daughter shot, we went to the master bedroom and set up this shot:
On a personal note, the only time I’ve worn “real” ties on a daily basis was when I moved to the US and worked for car dealerships. And a friend taught me how to do it and also by researching it on the internet.
It’s such a simple thing and It’s probably something most guys might take for granted but lucky are the ones who learned this basic skill from their fathers.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL DADS OUT THERE (Tie or no tie!)
Thank you to the Heyligers for being such great sports in allowing themselves to become willing “victims” to my creative endeavors.
This image got honorable mention at a recent image critique and photo contest at the Annapolis Photography Workshop Group organized by Dave Blecman of Positve Negatives (www.posneg.com).
